This new version has soft jersey knit wool inside (whereas the older styles have cotton inside). The soft jersey knit wool inside is comfy and means less wicking and much less washing.  Nice!!

Disana Boiled Wool Sleeping Bag - wearable blanket. GOTS certified for purity and safety. Made in Germany.  Unlike other wool sleep bags, it does not contain silicone or polymer resins. Soft wool jersey interior helps keep things dry. Wool is naturally temperature-regulating for a good sleep.  TOG value 1.7  Weight 420 g/m²

Size 1,  60 cm,  1 - 6 months,  Length 23.6"

Size 2,  80 cm,  6 - 18 months,  Length 31.5"

Size 3,  100 cm,  18 months to 3+ years

Disana wools are made from fine merino wool are ideal for meeting the high warmth needs of babies and toddlers. Pure merino wool traps thousands of tiny air bubbles between the fibers, forming an insulating layer and preventing body heat from escaping. This keeps wool clothing warm without overheating.

We are convinced that our organic wool has its own unique "vibrancy," which can be felt when wearing our disana clothing. This vibrancy has a stimulating, but also calming and relaxing effect on the wearer of wool clothing.  Disana uses only the finest wool from merino sheep in our disana products. The hair of this breed of sheep, with a diameter of just a few micrometers, is so thin that it cannot stand up on its own. This means that the wool hairs always lie flat and only touch the skin with their long sides, not with the prickly fiber tips. This is a truly "subtle" difference from many other types of wool.

Note from Karen: I love the purity of the fabrics and that is isn't superwash. The warmth of boiled wool is not at all like sweaty polyester. Wool breathes and regulates body temperature. I am convinced that my babies sleep better in wool and natural fibers, perhaps because they are neither too hot nor too cold in it. This really does have that Goldilocks effect of "just right". There is something amazing and superior about merino wool. This is not intended as a diaper cover. It is clothing.

Don't confuse this with thin, lightweight washable wool sacks. This wool is more substantial. I keeps its shape and lays where it ought to be as baby moves around. It contains a lot of wool.  The weight is just right for both warmth, breathability and a feeling of security. Babies really do soothe easily in wool!

The front zipper opens up all the way for easy access to baby. The top of the zipper is covered. Soft organic wool jersey interior helps keep things dry. Made without sleeves for freedom of movement.

Hand wash only. Made in Germany.

All of our stock has the zipper cover near the baby's chin. These are much nicer than they look in the pictures. Grey shown on the baby is size one.

What is Boiled Wool?  Boiled refers to the way the wool is processed. It is not the same as "superwash" wool which involves chemicals and coatings. Boiled wool is a versatile fabric that has been used for centuries.  Boiled wool is created by a process called fulling, which involves washing and agitating the fabric in hot water. This process causes the wool fibers to shrink and interlock, resulting in a denser wool that is soft and not itchy.

GOTS certified wool and organic cotton means no worries about safety.

  • Warmth: Boiled wool is an excellent insulator yet it doesn't get too hot because it breathes
  • Breathability: allows moisture vapor to escape
  • Water resistance: The interlocked fibers of boiled wool create a natural barrier that is resistant to water penetration. This helps keep sheets dry in case of a leak.
  • Durability: The fulling process makes boiled wool more durable and more resistant to pilling. Pass this lovely item down to future children.
  • No polymer resins:  Wools that can be machine washed on warm have been processed in a different way than this item.  With the other kind, the fibers may be coated with a thin polymer resin or the fibers have been treated with chlorine to remove their scales. The polymer resin on superwash is likely a thin coating of a plastic-like material applied to the wool fibers in order to prevent it from felting when washed.  Boiled wool is not coated. It is the real deal. Disana GOTS certified wools must be hand washed.

Washing is infrequent. Hand washing is easier than it may seem.  I, Karen, really enjoy hand washing this lovely garment once in a while. Wash only if very soiled, otherwise just air out and re-use it.  That's even easier than machine washing. If there is a leak and the cotton interior gets wet, just turn it inside out and rinse the cotton out well. It's not that hard and you can enjoy that the sheets stayed dry.

Warm boiled wool on the outside, soft organic grey jersey knit wool inside. Wool is very good at balancing out the temperature; you are usually not too warm or too cold wearing it. An extra fine organic cotton lining on the inside allows the child to sleep in peace. Thanks to the long zip in the front, the sleeping bag can be opened wide. This makes it easier to place your child inside when she is asleep. A priceless advantage for little ones after a long day of adventures, play and discovery.

Note from Karen:  Green Mountain Diapers does not sell anything made with superwash wool. Why? Purity. Coating wool with silicone or polymer resins is not the same as boiled wool. Besides, when I wash a product with superwash treatment, I can smell the chemical odor. (My very sensitive sense of smell is my "superpower"). Plus, I enjoy hand washing wool. It doesn't need to be done often, but it is satisfying and enjoyable when I do hand wash my wools. If I'm going to choose natural wool, I want it to actually be a natural fiber, not just made from a natural fiber that has then been chemically processed, coated with silicone or polymer-something-or-other and changed.

Rediscoving the Great Qualities of this Pillow (after Originally Rejecting It)
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
I recently 'rediscovered' this pillow... having purchased it a year or so ago, when neck + shoulder issues prevented me from being very happy with *ANY* pillow! Believe me, I tried so many! Back then, after repeatedly adjusting the fill of this COOP queen-size pillow, I ultimately stashed the whole thing in a closet. But now, it has unexpectedly re-entered my life... and I'm finally liking it. It helps that I've resolved most of the neck + shoulder issues (thanks to a year of PT). Plus. I realized that I had removed way too much fill... leaving about as much support as a pile of gently scrambled eggs. So, now that I'm in much better condition and have added back a lot of fill, I'm finding this pillow quite satisfying... yes, actually good! These days, I wake up each morning with a much happier neck. I do not. however, use the thick, quilted, zippered outer cover that came with it... as I find that stiffens + firms up the pillow a little too much for my taste. So, on top of the thinner, stretchy, zippered inner cover (also provided with the pillow, to contain the fill,) I've replaced the quilted outer cover with a jersey-stretch, zippered, cotton pillow protector. which is lighter weight and more malleable. As a person who has been traveling for years—by necessity—with a personal pillow from home, I'm now recognizing the extra advantages of this COOP pillow: For travel, its parts all compress well + easily (while for sleeping, the fill is light + lofty, but also supportive, as long as you don't remove way too much). And the pillow's components all readily come apart, so they can be packed separately...even the stuffing can be separated into smaller zip-lock packets, if needed—meaning there's never a need to squish an entire, impossibly big, somewhat dense pillow into a suitcase (or even a compression sack). Quick + easy to disassemble and reassemble. Really, the COOP can be treated as a build-your-own pillow (remember, I changed out the zippered outer cover and adjusted the stuffing volume to my own prefences). It's not cheap, but these days, remarkably, it's doing the trick for me. So glad I didn't get rid of it.

Great pillow and company
Color: Crescent White, Size: King
I have a couple of Coop Home pillows and loved them. They are several years old and I was on the search for a replacement. I tried 2 other brands, one cost more and the other cost less. Returned 1 and used the other for a short time before I had to go back to my old Coop pillow. I started looking at crescent pillows and did some research. This type of pillow is great for side and back sleepers. Being a side sleeper I looked into the best rated. Coop Home crescent pillow was not rated #1 but it was close. The top rated pillow cost 2.5 times more and I could not justify paying that. I am happy to report that I am waking up less (before every 1.5-2 hours). It comes with extra fill and I love a very firm pillow so I emailed customer service to see if I could get more filling. This was on the weekend and in 1 day they responded that they would be happy to. Now that is great customer service. I sleep warm and have no problem with a hot head. It comes with a cover but I use silk pillowcases and it works fine. I will say when I first got the pillow it was very thin and flimsy. I had some doubts but followed directions and put in the dryer on low. Came out perfect. Highly recommend this pillow and company.

Best pillow I've ever owned
Color: Cut-out White, Size: Queen
While the pillow looks anemic when it first comes out of its packaging, it puffs/firms up beautifully after time in the dryer. I haven't had any odor issues. I'm mostly a side sleeper and at first I thought there wasn't enough of the extra fill, so I put it all in. I've ended up needing to take at least half back out to keep my head at the correct angle. While this can fit in a standard pillow case, it just barely fits and keeps coming out - at least at my fill level. Queen pillow cases are much better. This is so much more comfortable than any of my previous pillows. I don't need to stack multiple pillows to get the right support. I'm no longer waking up with neck or shoulder or arm pain. I'm recommending it to pretty much everyone and I've purchased a second pillow to keep at my parents for when I visit!

So nice your wife will steal it for herself
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
This, this is the god of all pillows I’ve ever purchased. It’s the perfect balance of firm and soft and it’s easily adjustable using the added filler. I’m a side sleeper so having a primary pillow is a must. Combined with a decent secondary pillow this one provides a perfect amount of support. This pillow is so nice, my wife ‘borrowed it’.

Favorite pillow!!
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
Absolutely love this pillow! Bought my husband one a year ago after he was waking up with neck pain. Just recently bought myself one, we both love them! Very comfy and comes with a bag of extra foam to add/remove from the pillow. The zipper on the side of the pillow cover is hidden but durable. We take it with us wherever we go, and always sleep so good.
